Garden After the Rain

These are newly planted pink knockout roses which have been blooming for about three weeks now.
My favorite summer spot in the mornings is in the adirondack chair with the morning paper, a cup of strong coffee, and either Rosie or Scooter in my lap. They are both conveniently hiding from my camera today. The grandchildren have planted tomatoes which we have already harvested four; unfortunately, I cannot get them to taste them.

Amazing what several days of rain will do for a garden! This is the best year I have had with the gardenias next to the house. Last year the buds fell off without opening. Wish I could capture that fragrance and keep it around all summer.
